regional and country policies

Postby impero68 on 21 Apr 2009 10:51

Hi,
I am trying to study the impact of different ICT policies in Europe. I Decided to modify the values of some parameters using the scenario analysis tool. I wonder if it is possible in IFs to change those parameters values only for a country or/and a group of countries. I read the main documents describing the features of IFs but i did not find anything that could help me in this respect. thanks a lot for replying me!

Go to Scenario Analysis and choose Parameter Search. Type in the variable you are interested in and load it into the tree. You can then choose for what country you would like to change the parameter (more ICT spending in R&D, greater improvement to productivity, etc).

Let me know if that is helpful. You can also switch to groups by selecting "Using Countries" at the top of the screen.

Thanks a lot. Now I realise that it was a silly question...
I am still working on scenario analysis with a particular interest in futures of EU given different ICT policies and I face another issue.
I am reasoning about the scope of the scenario analysis I am using. I was wondering if it is possible to undertake a scenario analysis taking into account only EU countries (I know that I can manage the results as I desire, but I am referring to the actual computations behind simulations in different scenarios). Put it differently, I am wondering if focusing on EU countries and not considering the rest of the world can be a useful and insightful operation. A possibility could be, if possible and meaningful as I said, to delete in this exercise all the countries but the EU ones from IFs. An investigation on this issue in IFs led me to understand that one can add a country, does this means that it is also possible to delete countries?
I hope I was clear enough...
Thank you very much for reading my post and for your kind answer to my previous post.

Sorry for not getting back to this question until now: No. It is not possible to run a scenario that separates out EU members from the rest of the world.
